Welcome!
January 21, 2010
Thanks for visiting. On the right, you’ll find links to a highly subjective day-by-day account of my trip to Israel. Cathryn, Miriam and I went as part of a two-week “educational tourism” trip sponsored by our synagogue, Temple Ohabei Shalom.
The travelogue is my attempt to document the virtual avalanche of events we experienced. The itinerary was sometimes overwhelming, and this writing project is my attempt to give the events some vague shape.
I don’t try to draw any conclusions, lessons, or epiphanies here. Those will have to wait for another time. Most likely they will never be committed to writing. The bottom line is that this was one of the most powerful experiences of my life. It changed how I understand myself and my place in the world.
p.s. The words are all mine. The photos are all Cathryn’s!
